The Trust Factor

2/22/2026

Building trust with our customer base is paramount.

Since our founding in 2013, 417 Rekey has offered fast and convenient rekey services for homes and businesses.  Our focus is to provide what people need and ask for.

I often joke that we’d starve to death as commission-only salesmen because we eschew manipulating folks into buying goods or services they simply don’t need.  This principle has served us well as the cornerstone of our trust-building customer service.  (And we have not starved to death, either!)

Our business started in the trunk of a 1998 Ford Escort during my journey through single-parenthood.  My mechanic helped my little two-door limp from oil change to oil change, only recommending the vital services needed to keep it safe on the road.  When it needed tires, he’d sell me two at a time, rotate them, and advise me on the next vital repair approaching.

This forged an adamantine trust.

When I had the chance to rekey his home, I explained one of his locks didn’t need replacement- just a minor tweak.  He shouted out, “Really!?”  I assured him that’s all he needed, reciprocating his approach to my car repairs.

Trust breeds trust.

When a new customer comes our way, we always try to “wow” them to build trust and keep them as a customer.

While we are so grateful for the customers we’ve served, maintaining trust is not without effort.   After completing a job for a repeat customer, we don’t just thank them for the job.  We say, “thank you for your continued business and trust.”

In our book, the quest for “wow” needs to be perpetual.

Business transactions happen all the time: we buy groceries, we buy gas, etc.  Business in and of itself is good.   Without the trust factor, however, the business transaction can be hollow, depriving both parties of honest satisfaction.

Thank you, Southwest Missouri, for not only your business, but also for the opportunity  earn your trust- now 13 years and counting.
