Sarcoxie RII School District Partners with Solera Energy, LLC to Install 911.6 kW Solar Array

School district will realize $4 million lifetime savings with 2,025-panel array.

Springfield, MO — December 21, 2021 — Let there be light. Sarcoxie RII school district will move forward with a 2,025-solar panel installation, expected to provide a lifetime savings of $4 million for the 750-student school system. This will be the largest solar installation to date for a Missouri school.

The district will partner with Solera Energy, LLC and Gardner Capital Specialty Group through a Solar Services Agreement that requires no capital expenditure, no maintenance costs, and immediate savings.  The array will be installed at various locations, with expected completion in mid-2022.

“This is a historic partnership for renewable energy in Missouri,” said Will Cox, Solera Energy CEO.

Positive Educational and Environmental Impact

In addition to lifetime energy cost savings, the array will provide additional environmental benefits, including avoidance of 648,000 tons of coal and 16,000 tankers of gas. Secondary benefits will provide cleaner air and water for the Ozarks by reducing coal ash pond deposits and particulates from the air.

Educational:  National curriculum through the Department of Education and Department of Energy are provided free of charge to public schools and with renewable energy being one of the fastest growing industries in the world, Sarcoxie students will be afforded a living laboratory to explore these opportunities.

“The Sarcoxie R-2 School District is excited to partner with Solera.” said Sarcoxie School Superintendent Phil Lewis. “We are always looking for innovative ways to improve the district and Solera was a good answer to our needs.”

Solera Energy LLC, based out of Springfield, MO, is the largest provider of renewable energy in the state and was founded by Will Cox and Mark Gardner.
