SPRINGFIELD, MO – Missouri Bankers Association (MBA) announced the appointment of Karen Shannon, Vice President of Business Consulting/CHRO with Ollis/Akers/Arney Insurance & Business Advisors, to its Board of Trustees for Banking Education for a three-year term. 

Founded in 1891, MBA is a statewide trade association and professional organization representing the interests of banks and savings and loan financial institutions in Missouri, which includes more than 30,000 employees in 2,000 locations. The trustees have overall responsibility for MBA banking schools, including setting school policies, budgets, faculty selection and general program design. “This is a great opportunity to continue to impact the education of professionals in the banking industry,” says Shannon. “Regardless of what role I’ve been in, I’ve always enjoyed people and organizational development, and this is another way to accomplish that.” Shannon has served in senior leadership positions in banking and human resources for more than 25 years, and has been an employee-owner of Ollis/Akers/Arney Insurance and Business Advisors since 2012. She and her team provide HR services to 5,000 employees across the United States, United Kingdom, India and Mexico. She received her Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Business Administration and Economics from Drury University. Shannon is a past Springfield Business Journal Most Influential Women honoree.
