JEFFERSON CITY, MO. – Leaders from across the Missouri aviation community will meet with elected officials to commemorate State Aviation Day at the State Capitol on March 28.

 “Aviation is a vital component of the total transportation package that serves Missouri’s industries, businesses, and residents,” said Steve Stockam, Former Joplin Regional Airport Manager and Immediate Past Chair of Missouri Aviation Advisory Committee. “State Aviation Day serves as a way to highlight the tremendous impact that aviation has on the economic wellbeing of this state.”

Airport managers, pilots, technicians, consultants, business owners, and policymakers will convene at the event, to be held in the third-floor Rotunda area from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The aviation industry is vital to Missouri, providing the state with substantial contributions ranging in nature from economic to quality of life. The state is home to nearly 500 aviation facilities, including publicly owned airports. The industry serves millions of passengers each year and accounts for $11.1B in economic impact in the state. What’s more, the state’s General Aviation industry – which includes emergency response, law enforcement, agricultural aviation and recreational flying – yields $857 million annually and supports nearly 7,500 jobs statewide.

For over a decade, the annual State Aviation Day gathering has provided a venue for those across the aviation industry and public officials to meet, re-connect, and discuss emerging aviation issues and opportunities in communities across the state.
