SPRINGFIELD, May 26, 2020 – Heart of the Ozarks Sertoma Club Donates $23,700 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield
(May 26, 2020 - Springfield, Mo) The Heart of the Ozarks Sertoma (SERvice-TO-MAnkind) Club has again
for the fourth straight year provided $23,700 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield to cover its payment to the Springfield Public Schools for operations of the BGCS Sertoma Unit, which was built in
2015 as part of the new Sherwood Elementary School Complex.
For over 50 years, HOTO Club members have pooled their collective energies and resources to help the
BGCS and other local charities serving area youth, especially those most at-risk, with opportunities to have positive futures. HOTO has provided funds and volunteer support for buildings, vehicles, programming, staffing, technology, college scholarships, and special events.
“Knowing there is a constant need for support at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield is what keeps our fundraising efforts going”, said Eric McGuire, current HOTO President. “The Heart of the Ozarks Sertoma
Club sees the great work all of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield do for the youth in our community, and we are always eager to support them and their great work.”
The BGCS has been the primary charity supported by the HOTO Club since its inception in 1969. Funds
donated are primarily raised through the Club’s weekly Bingo activities, Brat Wagon catering service,
and the Chili Cook-Off event which is run with the other area Sertoma Clubs.
