Burrell Behavioral Health, Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield expand clinical behavioral health services within Springfield Clubs

8/6/2020

Burrell Behavioral Health and The Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to expand behavioral health services provided by Burrell within Springfield Clubs. Burrell and The Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield have a longstanding partnership through which Burrell provides Community Support services to Club youth and families, which includes a variety of services and connection to community resources.

This new agreement expands the scope of this partnership to include clinical behavioral health services. A licensed Burrell clinician will now be located on-site to provide individual and group therapy sessions at the Musgrave and Fremont units.

“The Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield has been a pillar of our community for more than 80 years. The Clubs are uniquely positioned to help develop meaningful relationships with families, provide learning resources and curriculum with highly trained and caring staff,” said Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield Chief Executive Officer Brandy Harris. “We are providing our Club members and their families stability and structure during these unstable times. Our organization takes great pride in partnering with community partners and other non-profits. By partnering with Burrell Behavioral Health, we will not only be able to provide academic and recreational support, but now emotional support to the youth who need us most,” Harris said.

In addition to BGCS, Burrell works with other nonprofits, the court system, medical partners and more than 50 public school districts in Missouri and Arkansas to provide direct, on-site care to those with behavioral health needs and to immediately connect them to appropriate services.

“The ability to meet with anyone, and particularly youth, in settings where they are comfortable and connected is vital to Burrell’s mission providing seamless access to behavioral health services,” said Burrell Behavioral Health President & CEO C.J. Davis. “The Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield has been a valuable partner of Burrell’s for many years, and we couldn’t be more appreciative of the opportunity to expand this important work to include expert clinical services, especially at a time when youth and families need connection and help more than ever.”

About Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield The mission of The Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. BGCS provide programs that guide and direct youth from all backgrounds, particularly those from at-risk environments. Through social, physical, and educational development activities, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield teach youth the values of life, strengthen their self-esteem, and make them better citizens of our community. The Club offers daily access to a broad range of programs in five core program areas: The Arts, Character and Leadership Development, Education and Career Development, Health and Life Skills and Sports, Fitness and Recreation. Giving the youth of the community the proper tools, they need to become successful students and citizens is an important part of our mission.
