3/2/2021

Springfield, MO – February 24, 2021 – We are pleased to announce the induction of three new members to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame was created to recognize and honor those individuals, whose contributions or talents had a significant impact on the development, evolution and growth of the organization. Individuals nominated have exhibited leadership, excellence, inspiration, and integrity.

On February 24 2021, Candy Trogolo, Michael Eugene McGuire, and Dolere Wetzel were inducted into the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield Hall of Fame at the Club’s Annual Meeting held at the Stalnaker Unit.

Candy Trogolo

Candy gave her all to help many people, especially at-risk youth in our community. She would read news stories about the life-changing events at the Boys & Girls Clubs and then reach out to offer her support. Over the years, she provided for dozens of Club members and their needs such as books, tuition, vehicle expenses, clothing and many other practical acts of kindness. There are many great futures in the process because of her generosity and commitment to this mission.

Michael Eugene McGuire

Mike was a mentor and friend to hundreds of Club members in the 1970-80’s, providing first time life experiences such as Keystone Conference trips; preparing Club members for Boy of the Year competitions; and helping the greater community by organizing   meals for area senior citizens. Mike was an active Club member and leader, enjoying Torch Club, Golden Gloves boxing, coaching and the 1963 Springfield Boys Club Boy of the Year honors.

Delore Wetzel

Delore, a Heart of the Ozarks (HOTO) Sertoma charter member, signed a personal note in 1969 to help finance the Musgrave Boys & Girls Club. His impact throughout over 50 years as a Sertoman has provided countless increases for life-enriching opportunities available to local youth. Delore has worked consistently on all the Sertoma fundraising events, including Chili Cook-Off, Wingapalooza, Grin Iron Classic, Partners in Education Walks, Invest to Invest, and Club Golf Tournaments, all for Great Futures.
