Overview of Unit/Department

Under the direct supervision of the Director or Supervisor, designee performs those duties directly involved with the transport of patients to and from departments / units throughout the hospital. Interacts with nursing personnel to assure continuance of care during the transport process. Assumes responsibility for patients, equipment, and functions.

• Under the direction of the Patient Transport Manager, the supervisor is responsible for the day to day operations of centralized transport. Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and supervise functions and activities of the department. Coordinate transportation activities and services with other hospital departments. Responsible for effective communication with staff, providing feedback, direction and assistance to employees in Centralized Transport.

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience
  • Required: 1 year of patient transport or leadership experience
  • Preferred: 1-2 years leadership/supervisory experience

• Licensure/Certification/Registration
  • Required: BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire
