Job Summary: 

The SNAP Outreach Coordinator works to increase access to SNAP through outreach and direct application assistance to underserved populations across Ozarks Food Harvest’s 28 Missouri counties. This position will provide SNAP information, application support and is responsible for helping to identify and coordinate innovative ways to improve and increase SNAP outreach amongst our network, including our member partners, other community-based organizations and prison outreach. They will work as a team member to achieve the goals and objectives of the department and carry out the mission of The Food Bank.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide one-on-one assistance to clients interested in applying for SNAP in-person or by phone.
  • Attend monthly meetings with Feeding Missouri to maintain knowledge of current state and federal SNAP policies. 
  • Generate reports on SNAP outreach activities on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Deliver educational presentations about SNAP to a variety of audiences as requested.
  • Collaborate with Missouri food banks, Ozarks Food Harvest’s member agencies, local community organizations, businesses and other          stakeholder groups to develop effective localized SNAP outreach campaigns.
  • Identify and foster innovative SNAP outreach strategies and initiatives.
  • Provide SNAP technical support to Feeding America, Feeding Missouri, Ozarks Food Harvest’s agencies and other potential SNAP partners.
  • Assist in the implementation of SNAP outreach initiatives identified in Feeding America, Feeding Missouri and Ozarks Food Harvest’s strategic plan.
  • Assist in the development of Ozarks Food Harvest’s annual SNAP outreach strategic plan.

 

Additional duties may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Teach ServSafe Food Handler classes to Ozarks Food Harvest member agencies.
  • Complete special projects as required and assigned.
  • Assist in other departmental responsibilities as required and assigned.
  • Represent Ozarks Food Harvest as requested at conferences, national forums and other venues.
  • Organize, moderate or conduct workshops at conferences, national forums and other venues.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of nutrition programs and initiatives.
  • Help with the creation of nutrition education materials such as handouts, PowerPoints, etc.
  • Display willingness and excitement to work with a nutrition team.
  • Seeks and identifies new evidence-based information and keeps up with emerging research that is related to food insecurity, nutrition, and social determinants of health.

Position Qualifications:

BS required or 2 years of relevant skills and experience in human or social services, social work, nutrition or related field. Emphasis on community outreach, customer service experience, and comfort working with at-risk and vulnerable populations, is preferred.

Working knowledge of the SNAP program, regulations, and eligibility requirements, is a plus.

Excellent customer service skills.

Enjoys working with people of diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Must be well organized, flexible and display attention to detail.

Maintain level of professionalism, accuracy and confidentiality at all times.

Ability to work as part of a team and independently. 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficient with Microsoft Office software. 

Valid MO Driver’s License.
