POSITION: Membership Development Representative
REPORTS TO: Membership Development Manager

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

The Membership Development Representative will play a key role in advancing the Chamber’s mission by actively driving membership growth, fostering retention, and enhancing member engagement through Chamber events, committees, and programs. This position is focused on building meaningful relationships, ensuring high member satisfaction, and contributing to the Chamber’s overall success.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition to the general functions outlined above, the Membership Development Representative will:

  • Partner with the Membership Development Manager to drive new member recruitment, adhering to proven prospecting and sales strategies, and working towards personal and team goals to meet annual membership targets.
  • Maintain accurate records of prospecting efforts in the Chamber’s membership database to ensure reliable and consistent reporting.
  • Prioritize the retention and engagement of new members during their first two years, aiming to increase long-term membership commitment and revenue.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for current and prospective members, providing assistance on membership benefits, answering inquiries, and ensuring a high level of member satisfaction.
  • Provide support for Chamber committees, events, sponsorships, and special programs, escalating questions or concerns to the appropriate team members.
  • Attend and assist with Chamber events, such as Business After Hours, Maximize Your Membership, Biz Blitz, Good Morning Springfield!, and other events as needed.

CRITERIA/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with members via phone, email, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Previous experience in business development, sales, or a similar field is preferred.
  • Proven ability to build and nurture long-term relationships with business professionals, community leaders, and volunteers.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • A college degree is preferred.
