Executive Director
Lost & Found Grief Center is a nonprofit that serves adults and children who have experienced a loss. Our professional grief support resources to our community consist of group and individual education and counseling.
Position Summary: Responsible for overall management, development, and oversight of strategies needed to advance the mission, programs, and goals of Lost & Found Grief Center. Works in conjunction with the Board of Directors, collaborating partners, funders, employees, and volunteers to carry out all aspects of center initiatives. Serves as the face for L&F. Oversight of all center operations and programs. Responsible for organizational budget oversight and maintaining fiscal controls, as approved by the Board of Directors.
Work Location: Lost & Found Grief Center, 1555 S. Glenstone Ave, Springfield, MO 65804. Travel for training required on occasion.
Employment Status: This is a full time (40+ hours per week) salaried exempt position.
Work Hours: This position may require attending center and community events outside of normal business hours. Some events may be on weekends or after business operating hours. L&F home-office hours are Monday-Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday 8 a.m. to noon.
Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and education. Benefits available for full-time staff include health, vision, dental, and life insurance, 401K, and a generous paid time off (PTO) plan.
Core Responsibilities:
Leadership:
o Ensures the mission/vision/values of the organization are carried out.
o Builds trust within the community.
o Serves as an Authorized Official for L&F, within the limits outlined in the bylaws and financial policies.
o Oversight of organizational compliance with all laws, service standards, grants, and contracts.
o Ensure legal compliance for operating a 501c3 non-profit center.
o Ensure annual/quarterly reports and taxes to state and federal government sources are filed in accordance with the law.
o Oversight of all L&F programs and services
o Develop strategic partnerships for the success of the center’s mission.
o Develop a Strategic Plan in conjunction with the Board of Directors, as needed (but at least every 4 years).
o Oversight of organizational Action Plans, dove-tailed with the Vision of Greatness Strategic Plan.
o Directly supervise Director-Level employees.
o Stay updated on all evolving issues at the local, state, and federal levels that impact the center and its clients.
o Comply with Organizational Bylaws
o Work with the Board President and Executive Board to recruit, train, and support the Board of Directors.
o Work with the Board President and Executive Board to facilitate Board Meetings and related agendas, work groups, and meeting minutes. May work with other sub-board committees, as needed.
Development and Financial:
o Ensure L&F’s development activities support the mission of the organization; Support development staff in creating strategic financial goals.
o Support staff with major grant and donor solicitation/cultivation.
o Regularly review and update L&F’s financial policies in conjunction with the Board of Directors.
o Work with the Board Treasurer, and administrative staff to provide oversight of organizational financial health, financial controls, and financial reports.
o Work in conjunction with an independent auditor to conduct an annual organizational audit.
o Work with professional tax advisors to file annual 990s.
o Serve as a signor and Authorized Official on all financial accounts, within the limits of L&F’s financial policies.
o Oversight of L&F payroll and accounting systems.
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
· Minimum of (7) seven years of work experience in nonprofit management.
· At least (7) seven years of experience in fundraising.
· At least (7) seven years of experience supervising employees.
· At least (7) seven years of experience in writing budgets and/or basic financial management.
· Ability to pass national criminal and sexual background checks.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills. A good presenter/speaker at events and fundraisers.
· Excellent public relations and relationship-building skills, including conflict management.
· Ability to meet deadlines with accuracy.
· Organized and excellent time management skills.
· Good software/computer skills necessary to conduct the essential functions of the job.
· Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time interchangeably.
· Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds (such as training materials, laptops, and supplies).
· Visual acuity is necessary to read and develop center materials.
· Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with the minimum motor vehicle insurance as required by law for use in attending meetings and events off site.
