Emergency Management Specialist - Exercise & Training
Purpose of Position
The purpose of this position is to fully manage and be responsible for the implementation and success of four emergency management programs which include exercises, training, public disaster education, and volunteer management.
Minimum Training and Experience
Required to Perform Essential Job Functions Three years’ minimum experience in education, teaching, and/or emergency management, meteorological sciences, law enforcement, firefighting, EMS, hospital/medical field, hazardous materials, and/or WMD response are required. Bachelor’s degree in education, emergency management, homeland security, or other related areas are encouraged. A combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities may be used to satisfy these requirements. Must possess a valid operator’s license and must be capable of driving department vehicles after training. FEMA Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP) credential or ability to obtain within agreed upon time frame. IAEM Certified/Associate Emergency Manager (CEM/AEM) encouraged but not mandatory. Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP) Evaluator credential or ability to obtain within agreed upon time frame. Other certifications relative to this position are encouraged.
