Controls Engineer at Lebanon Facility

Our Controls Engineer develops and programs custom automated equipment and provides technical support to external and internal customers. They analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design including electrical requirements, robotic safety standards, PLC, and servo controls. They ensure all safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed and are responsible for assisting with a project's success. 


Key (Essential) Responsibilities:

1. Meets with Mechanical Engineers, Customer, and DT Engineering management to discuss the design and function of the customer machine.

2. Develop controls architecture for medium single module machines or assist on large multi-module machines.

3. Program control systems for servo, robotic, air, and hydraulic operated stations, along with test and electrical devices with minimum assistance.

4. Ensure the electrical design is functional, robust, and cost effective.

5. Innovate and use good judgment to incorporate DT Engineering’s standards and regulatory requirements.

6. Research and specify appropriate purchased and preferred components for consideration.

7. Create electrical wiring schematics, flow diagrams, panel layouts, Bill of Materials, organize release packages, and update schematics with minimum support.

8. Maintain project scope and identify scope creep.

9. Participate in internal and customer design reviews, installations, and service calls when needed.

10. Travel to customer sites as needed for installation or service.

11. Guide electrical technicians in wiring and codes. Support software validation requirements.

12. Work with suppliers to find/develop the most functional economical solutions to design issues.

13. Work under the confines of the project schedule and budget.

14. Problem-solve with Automation Technicians, debug software issues, and update all appropriate documentation.

15. Communicate ideas and comprehend information both verbally and in written form.

16. Work closely with Mechanical Engineering, exhibiting objectivity, and being open to others’ views.

17. Prioritizes, plans, and organizes work and workspace.

18. Additional (Non-Essential) Responsibilities:

1. Contribute to the development and maintenance of DT Engineering’s internal standards.

2. Set and maintain department goals in keeping with company objectives.

3. Make recommendations for quality and cost improvements.

4. Provide support for technical documentation activities.

5. Support customer dialog in the production of new quotes.

6. Travel or extended workday if required.

7. Demonstrate financial acumen appropriate for this position.

8. Demonstrate working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

9. Performs other duties as required.


Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key responsibility satisfactorily. 1. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.

2. Minimum of five years directly related to experience.

3. Technical understanding of integrating industrial devices.

4. Proficiency with Rockwell Studio 5000 development software, Schematic Capture Software, AutoCad or equivalent CAD environments.

5. Strong proficiency with Allen Bradley or Siemens PLC’s, HMI’s and Servo control. Proficiency in Siemens or Omron software will be considered an added advantage.

6. Strong technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills are required.


Primary Location/Schedule:

1. On-site: 1107 Springfield Road, Lebanon, MO 65536

2. Full-time, 40 hours per week.

3. Flexibility on start/end time, but must have regular and predictable attendance.

4. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

5. Travel to customer sites as required.
