Step Down Unit SDU / PCU
We call PCU our pendulum floor. It is for patients that don’t quite need CCU but are not well enough to move to med surg. There are 3-5:1 patient to nurse ratios on this floor. We have a tiered level of acuity - Gray patients: more acutely ill you will experience things like bipap initiation, cardiac and insulin gtts, these are where the patients that are likely to need hire level of care go for extra monitoring. White patients: are stroke, cardiac, respiratory, and telemetry. This floor experiences a lot of ETOH and drug withdrawal patients as their clinical condition can change rapidly.

Job Summary
Utilizes the nursing process to effectively assess the needs of patients, identify a plan of care, and implement and evaluate the care given. Provides direct and indirect care to patients and leads the patient care team toward goal achievement in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and hospital policy. Leads employees to accomplish all job objectives; inspires confidence and motivation to enhance employee satisfaction.
Job Requirements
- Education
Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing. Must obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing within three years.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
ExperiencePreferred: At least five years of clinical experience, one year of charge nurse experience, and one year experience in the area of specializationSkills●Excellent verbal and written communication skills●Demonstrate effective leadership abilities●Exhibits valuable time management skills●Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills.●Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environmentLicensure/Certification/RegistrationRequired: RN license active in the state of MissouriRequired: BLS must be obtained within 90 daysRequired: Must obtain ACLS within one year of hire
